Getting in shape for summer should start now because by the time July comes around you’ll want to be fitting nicely into your summer clothes, especially your swim suit (get going for a beach body). When you feel confident you express confidence, because you feel great and look great and isn’t that the way you want to live your life, especially during the summer months when you wear less clothing. So, if you are overweight, and you want to lose weight fast this article will share some strategies to help you.Let me share some tips for losing weight.1. Visualize your ideal weight: Start now and see yourself at the weight you want to be! What I’m asking you to do is some creative visualization. If you find this challenging take a look through a magazine and find a body type similar to what you desire or find a picture of yourself at a weight that you felt good at and look at it often. It is the first step to success. 2. Keep a journal: Next what you want to do is write down your goal if it is to lose 10 pounds, 20 pounds or whatever. Be realistic and remember it is already April and you don’t want to set yourself up for failure. Write a journal to keep track of your success and challenges during this time.3. Exercise: It’s okay if you haven’t been that active during the winter months. Don’t go getting depressed before you begin. Start today to walk for 15 minutes and then increase daily. Doing a little something is better than doing nothing!4. Buy a DVD: Buy an exercise DVD and start off by doing 5 minutes one day and then 10 minutes the next day and so on. You may want to start doing Yoga. So, buy a DVD to see if it feels right for you and then go join a class. 5. Diet – Meal Plan: Diet and I don’t mean dieting. It is a good practice to eat up to 6 small meals or snacks during the day and remember not to skip a meal or you will slow your metabolism down. Avoid white anything like sugar or rice or flour it is processed and has no nutritional value and as well, you will want to leave out the fast foods and processed foods.6. Drink WATER: Drink plenty of WATER! Lots of water will not only make your skin look great, it helps curb your appetite. Remember this tip when you are feeling hungry. True hunger comes on gradually. If you’re not sure if you are really hungry, have a big glass of water.7. Follow the 80/20 rule: Do not get angry with yourself if you slip up and find yourself having that slice of cake at your neighbor’s party. If you eat by the 80/20 rule which says: If you eat healthy wholesome foods 80% of the time, 20% of the time, you can enjoy those special treats that you really enjoy so you won’t feel deprived.This may sound like a lot to do but you’re worth it and trust me, you’ll be loving the way you look and feel in your summer clothes. Push Ups To Build Muscle – Build Muscle With Push Ups

Is it possible for push ups to build muscle? Can this simple exercise that requires no special or expensive equipment, that can be done by children and adults alike, that has so many variations it is used by pro-builders and fitness models, really help to build muscle? This article will answer the question with an affirmative and continue to discuss how this exercise can be done to gain muscle, and other advantages of doing it.

Is it possible to do push ups to build muscle? The resounding answer YES. Now, a pro body-builder is not going to gain muscle by doing 20 reps. But a complete beginner can. That body builder isn’t left hanging though, because with about 500 reps in 40 minutes, even a pro-builder can notice a significant change in muscle form. Like in any exercise stress the muscle fibers and on the eccentric portion of the contraction cause tearing of muscle fibers.

When the body repairs these fibers and replaces them an increase in muscle mass is noticed.

How do you do push ups to build muscle? If you’re a hot-shot, unless you try to do several hundred push ups in a short period of time you’re probably not going to notice anything. But for a beginner, even 50 reps of push ups done with proper form across the period of the day can result in muscle soreness later on. So, the first thing to do is find your starting point. Find the maximum number of reps you can do. If you really challenged yourself you will notice muscle soreness all over your body. This is a great sign that your work out was effective and your body will then go into a state of repair.

Once you find your minimum push up number and heal from your soreness get right back on it but increase the frequency with which you do the exercise. Gradually increase intensity by increasing rep number, set number and by decreasing break time. Once you reach a significantly high rep number, focus on doing the same number of reps in a short period of time and really feel the burn.

There are many advantages of doing push ups to build muscle. The first one is that it involves multiple muscle groups. Therefore you train muscles in several different positions at the same time. This can be felt by the soreness in multiple places after doing the exercise for the first time.

A high intensity is required for push ups to build muscle, and the high rep and set number greatly improves the appetite and allows for a larger caloric intake, which is essential for body building. Finally, these exercises can be used with a variety of grips, speeds, and methods to target different muscle groups. For instance a close grip and a wide grip affect the muscles in completely different ways. Finally, doing push ups to build muscle not only helps to increase size and weight but also to strip down fat.

While it is indeed possible to do push ups to build muscle, the amount of weight gained from such a routine is greatly limited as compared to a more all-round muscle-building program. It must also be noted that, though I say it is possible for push ups to build muscle, this will not happen efficiently if the right nutrients, rest, and hormonal balance aren’t provided. So eat good quantities with good carbohydrates and oils, and plenty of protein packed in too. Do things right and you’ll definitely use push ups to build muscle. But for a whole other level of building and lot more muscle, push ups along might not cut it.

The rewards of a career in personal training are clear: Personal fitness trainers have the opportunity to directly help people improve their health and fitness. Consumers across the country are increasingly seeking out trustworthy professionals for responsible and up-to-date advice on exercise, weight loss and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

A little less clear is the multitude of recent proposed changes in legislation that could affect those interested in personal trainer certification. If you’re considering a career in personal training or a related field, staying abreast of personal trainer certification requirements is a critical aspect of delivering responsible care to clients.

Why change the laws regulating personal trainer certification?

A series of lawsuits in which personal trainers were accused of dangerous negligence may have prompted the move towards greater regulation of personal trainer certification. One of the most widely reported cases was in 2002, when a New York woman suffered a stroke and later died, allegedly due to complications from dietary supplements that were recommended by an inadequately qualified personal trainer. Other personal injury lawsuits against trainers soon followed.

In 2007, some of those trainers fought back, filing a lawsuit of their own against a certification agency that, the trainers said, provided inadequate instruction. The class action suit, which took place in California, shows how personal trainers and fitness professionals have taken a leading role in improving regulation within the personal training industry.

What changes are taking place that affect personal trainers?

As early as 2003, the National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE) was founded to promote nationwide industry standards for personal trainer certification. Among the proposed changes advocated by the NBFE are more consistent standards for certification as well as improved regulation of the accreditation of certifying agencies, to help ensure the health and safety of consumers.

However, state governments have also entered the fray, with New Jersey, Maryland, Georgia, the District of Columbia, Louisiana, and, most recently, California and Massachusetts, proposing legislation that would regulate the certification of personal trainers and possibly even require licensing of trainers. One prominent industry group, the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), has strongly lobbied against such legislation, citing the efforts of the NBFE and a multitude of other organizations to regulate the accreditation of certification providers without requiring a license.

While the NBFE itself maintains a neutral position about licensing, they stress the importance of creating nationwide standards, including a standardized exam for personal trainers that would make the licensing process consistent from state to state, rather than creating new and different legislation and licensing procedures for each state.

Have any laws been passed that change the requirements for personal trainers?

Thus far, only one of the bills introduced has yet passed into law: a Louisiana bill requiring licensing of exercise physiologists. According to Stuart Goldman, Managing Editor of Club Industry’s Fitness Business Pro, as of May 1, 2009, the Massachusetts bill was in committee, the New Jersey and District of Columbia bills were pending, and the Maryland and Georgia bills were inactive but expected to be reintroduced.

The California bill has passed the Senate and is currently being considered by the Assembly. However, the legislation being considered in California differs slightly in that it does not require licensing. Instead, it requires that personal trainer certification be provided by an agency approved by the National Commission of Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or by an organization accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the Department of Education (DOE).

How does this affect me?

If your state passes a law requiring licensing of personal trainers, or has changed the requirements for personal training certification, what does that mean for you? If you are looking for a career as a personal trainer, keep an eye out for schools that are accredited by one of the agencies above. The NCCA maintains a list of accredited certification programs for personal training and related fields, and the CHEA keeps directories of accredited programs as well as recognized accrediting organizations.

If you already possess personal trainer certification and are concerned about recertification, contact your personal training school for information about possible changes to requirements in your state, or get in touch with a professional organization such as the National Board of Fitness Examiners or the IDEA Health & Fitness Association.

– Golfing: Even with a golf cart, one hour of golfing burns off 185 calories. That sure was an easy way to work off breakfast, wasn’t it?

– Hiking: Whether you’re hiking the rugged terrain of the areas trails, trudging through sand barefoot, or simply tromping through the shops at the Wharf, you are going to burn off 150 calories every half hour. If you’re carrying backpacks or shopping bags full of souvenirs, it’s going to burn even more.

In order to make the most out of your skiing time, it is important to choose the correct pair of skis, as they are the most important piece of equipment needed for skiing. There are many variables (type, length, shape, stiffness, etc.) with skis though and the right pair for you is dependent on your skiing ability and style.

Skis are designed to support certain types of skiing, so it’s important to know what type you plan to do. You will find that most skis have been designed for powder or packed runs, because those are the most popular types of skiing. Those are the skis you should look to get if you’re a beginner. Upgrading your skis to those tailored specifically for off-piste or deep powder terrain should happen when you feel experienced enough to take on those challenges.

It’s not advisable to start off with modified skis though as it’s believed they can hinder the initial progress of beginners.

Length, shape and stiffness are arguably the most important considerations. Regarding length, the shorter they are, the easier they are to turn. For this reason, most beginners start off with a pair of short skis. Once you’ve mastered the basics of skiing and are confident of your ability, then you can consider longer skis, which will allow you greater speed in many different snow conditions, but which also will be less forgiving of errors.

Shape dictates a ski’s stability – skis that are wide in the boot area provide more stability while making broader turns than those that are narrow in this area, providing for faster, sharper turns. The two factors that make up a ski’s stiffness are the material it is made from and it’s shape.

Longer ones are usually stiffer than short ones and are more stable at high speeds. The less stiff shorter skis offer greater maneuverability which is seen a benefit to beginners.

The last point to remember is that you shouldn’t invest in skis until you know you will use them, so go skiing a couple of times before purchasing your own skis. Even if you’re sure you’ll be a regular skier, rent before buying because they’re not a cheap investment and you’ll want to be sure that you get the right type, length, shape and stiffness for your specific needs.

People very often have the wrong mindset that does not able them to have permanent results. To get in shape and lose weight in the process does not happen with temporary diets, others methods have to be used to achieve this. You can work very hard and be motivated but that is not enough, if you are moving in the wrong direction.

First of all you have to forget the “diet mindset.” To be successful in the long-term you first have to change your whole attitude towards exercise and nutrition. Instead of temporary on and off diets that most people use to lose weight, you have to focus on the mindset of lifelong “habits.” A habit is a behavior that is very hard to break, once it has completely developed, if it is good or bad. You can only get in shape and lose fat, if you constantly adopt new exercise and nutrition habits that you can maintain for the rest of your life.
If you have bad habits that you want to get rid of then replacing them with new ones, not attempting to overcome them with sheer willpower. If you have poor nutrition and are inactive most of the time then changing your habits from bad to good one step at a time is the key. If you want to from new habits that stick with you then you also have to eliminate the old ones.
This process of developing good nutritional habits of course is not easy and takes time but once they are formed, it is very hard to get rid of them. The more you work on the new habit such as exercising 3-4 times a week, the stronger the habit gets.
