Home Fitness Workouts – 4 Reason Why This Can Be Your Ticket to Getting in Shape Faster

Article by Hugo Guerreiro

Everybody wants to get in shape and I’m sure you’re probably one of them. You’ll find several options to exercise, and a lot of people choose fitness in your own home workout programs Let us face the facts, you would like to get fit rapidly, however, you most likely want some privacy and do not want anybody else seeing you while your huffing and puffing the pounds away Let’s be realistic, you want to condition your body quickly, however, you almost certainly want some privacy and don’t want anybody else seeing you while your huffing and puffing the pounds away

The question comes up, can you be successful at getting in shape quickly with home fitness workouts?

The answer is a definite yes if you take the necessary steps to make it happen. Here are some ways that you can make your home fitness workouts successful, so you can look and feel the way you’ve always wanted.

Create a plan and stick with it

This is the number one reason most people fail to follow through on home fitness workouts or any exercise plan for that matter. You have to take the time, sit down and decide what kind of workouts you’re going to do, when you’re going to do them and fill in as much detail as possible. If you start exercising without any real direction of what you’re trying to accomplish and how you’re going to do it, it becomes really easy to get distracted and give up altogether.

Take your home fitness workouts seriously

This goes along with creating your plan. You need to really ask yourself if you want to get into shape, have better health and lose the weight that you been wanting to lose for probably years now. As part of the plan, exercise must become as important as going to work, eating and anything else you do on a daily basis. If it comes down to watching TV or getting in your workout, what are you going to do?

You have to decide now how much you really want to get in shape. It might be hard in the beginning to be consistent. However, if you perform your workouts regularly over a month’s time, you’ll be in the habit of making it a part of your day. One good tip would be to write it down on your calendar or add it to the do list with the specific time and workout you’re going to do. This will force you to set time aside and plan for your workout.

Don’t think everything has to be perfect

One of the reasons why people get frustrated, skip their home fitness workouts and give up altogether, is because they think they need to do everything perfectly.

Don’t worry so much about how you’re doing your exercise, but just doing the best you can. Most people think they can do more than they really can. Just go ahead and be ready to modify what you do, so you can keep doing it consistently. For example, if you are performing a certain strength exercise as part of your home fitness workout and you find your using too much weight, it’s OK to stop, change the weight and continue to finish the exercise. Also, if you need a rest half way through the set for five to ten seconds, then take the rest.

The point trying to be made here is you do what you can to complete your workout. It’s more important to do the workouts with modifications than trying to force yourself to do something that could injure you or cause you to have to take more recovery days.

Workout as early in the day as possible

This simple tip, especially for home fitness workouts, can make or break your success in getting in shape. Try to schedule your exercise the first thing in the morning or as close to waking up as possible. For one, you’ll have the energy to exercise. Two, you won’t have any other distractions that might take you away from it. If you wait until later in the day, especially when you’re at home, you might find it hard to do it without being interrupted. Also, you might just be tired from the day and it becomes very easy to pass up your exercise for another day. If you get it out of the way first thing, you’ll feel better and you won’t feel the stress of having to get it done later.

In conclusion, home fitness workouts can work if you follow these tips and make your exercise a priority. If you do, you’ll be amazed at how fast you can get in shape and start feeling the way you’ve always wanted.

Getting in Shape with Used Treadmills and Olympic Weight Lifting Equipment

April 5, 2012 by

Article by Shawn Manaher

Getting ready to get in shape? A used treadmill and olympic weight lifting equipment, used in the right combination, can help you achieve your goals. As with any exercise program, check with your doctor first to make sure you are healthy enough to begin your plan.

Used treadmills can save money, sometimes as much as 200.00- 300.00 dollars, and these days who does not need to do that? Buying used gym equipment can be especially difficult for first time buyers who do not know what they are looking for. On-line is a good place to start, as it will let you see what is out there, compare prices and models, all without dealing with a salesman looking to make his commission for the day.

Keep in mind what you want in your used treadmill, and do not be pushed into something you do not want or need. If you are just starting out in your exercise journey a high-end, high-powered machine may be more than you can use. If this happens you may just get so frustrated that you give up before you even get started.

While buying on line may be easier than going into a store, it is also harder to see the actual condition of the equipment you are looking to buy. With used treadmills you want to not only see, but try out the treadmill before you commit to buying it. If you decide to purchase online, be sure you remember the cost of shipping. What seemed like a good deal may not be if you have to add 100.00 or more in shipping to the cost of your used treadmill. Also, find out the details about the warranty, with used machines they can vary, if one is even offered at all.

A second approach to getting in shape is the use of olympic weight lifting equipment. Before deciding on what equipment to buy, one should get help in deciding what weight limit to start with. If one has never done olympic style weight lifting before, then starting with too high a weight on the bar could wind you up in the hospital instead of in good shape. One of the best ways to find this out would be to take advantage of a weeks ( or whatever amount is offered) free membership in a local gym and have one of the instructors there help you find your starting point. Once you have found that, and perhaps the brand of equipment your want, then you can start looking for your own personal set of weights.

A combination of both types of equipment would provide the best over-all workout, and allow you to have a varied routine so you do not get bored before you reach your goal. Have fun and enjoy!

Getting Fit Will Benefit You For Years. Get Some Great Tips

It’s important to buy athletic shoes that properly fit your feet. Go shopping for shoes at the time of day your feet are largest, the evening. Make sure there is at least a half-inch of free space in between your big toe and your shoe. Your toes should move freely in your sneakers.

During pullups, lat pulldowns, and similar exercises, make sure not to let your thumb wrap around the bar. Place your thumb next to the index finger, this will cause you to use your arm muscles less and put the focus on main back muscles. Doing this feels strange, but targets the right muscle groups.

Work your sore muscles the next day for faster healing. By doing so, you will bring more nutrients and blood to the muscles, and therefore increase the repair efforts.

A great exercise modification is dive bomb pushups. You can do a dive bomb pushup by placing your hands and feet on the flow below while arching your back. As you bend at the elbows, similar to a normal push-up, bring your chest down and, at the same time, forward. Then return to the starting position. This will greatly strengthen your chest muscles.

Here is a great piece of advice from tennis and sports enthusiasts that will help you to ramp up the power of your forearms. Use a large sheet of newsprint to cover a flat surface. With your dominant, or stronger hand, crumple up the sheet of paper for about 30 seconds. Once you have finished doing this, do this exercise once with your off-hand, then switch back to your dominant hand and do two more repetitions.

You should perform your exercises in a set order. First do dumbbells, then the heavier barbell exercises, then do the machine exercises last. It is advised that when using dumbbells, smaller muscles experience fatigue before larger muscle groups. When your muscles become tired, you should switch your focus to performing workouts on machines.

It can be easy to start working out too intensely. You should start out by taking it slow and easy if it has been a while since you have exercised. You need to re-train your body. Muscles rebuild gradually. The way to avoid injuries and their resulting setbacks is to give your body a chance to slowly and steadily rebuild.

You can enhance your workouts effectively by learning how to control your breathing properly. While you are doing crunches, exhale forcefully as soon as your shoulders reach the top of the movement. The deep breathing causes your ab muscles to do more work than normal.

If you watch a lot of TV and it keeps you from exercising, here’s a good way to do both. Very few people pay attention to commercials anyway, so make the wait during the breaks worthwhile by doing a few exercises.

Do not cheat yourself out of vibrancy and a positive outlook which comes from physical fitness. Continue to find ways to improve yourself physically and reap the benefits to your quality of life. Using the information provided here is one way you can enhance your overall fitness level.

Getting Back in Shape – How to Begin?

There might be lots of reasons why you are looking at getting back in shape. It could be you have had a baby, or you just feel the need to get fitter thanks to having a largely sedentary job that takes up your time. Maybe your kids are heading to school and you just have some spare time. Whatever the reason, getting back in shape requires a fitness program that has lots of different qualities if it isn’t to be a waste of time and energy.

Any good exercise routine needs to incorporate variety. Variety helps when it comes to getting different parts of the body in shape. It also staves off those enemies of exercise workouts – boredom and repetition. These are two factors which can quickly kill off enthusiasm.

A good program that will help getting you back into shape also needs to include some downtime. The body needs time to recover from exercise if it is to regenerate and build up muscle.

Good, targeted, regimes will give you guidance as to how far you should push yourself and  when you should be backing off.

Another thing to consider if can you perform most of the exercises at home? You don’t need to pay for expensive gym memberships when a good routine with a range of different tasks can work just as well. If it requires costly equipment then it’s almost certainly promising something that can’t easily be delivered.

Getting back in shape can be a welcome diversion and not too time consuming. Even if you can find a spare ninety minutes a week you can lose weight, gain muscle and improve your body’s tone and shape. With the right exercises it’s a great use of your time.

I have found a great range of exercises for getting back in shape which will also help you with your strength and conditioning workouts

Getting Yourself In Shape For Ski Season

March 14, 2012 by

Article by Aaron Jochum

Skiing is one of the best fun winter sports around. But, if you are totally out of shape from having spent the summer and fall in front of your television set, it is probably not a good idea to hit the slopes for the first time before you get into shape a bit. So, if you are at all in earnest about skiing this winter season, the time is now, before the ski season actually begins, to start to get yourself back into shape.

Before you do anything else, get the ok from your physician that it is all right for you to start a fitness program. If he gives you his approval, then you can begin to set your fitness plan into action. Otherwise, follow his directions.

You will do best to ease into your exercise routine slowly and progress from there. Because, if you have been pretty much inactive for the majority of the year, your cardiovascular system is probably at an extreme sub-par level. So, first you to get that up to par. An excellent way is to simply start a walking program. Start by slow walking and then, gradually increase your speed until you are basically power walking.

On nice days, set aside a part of the day to go outside and just walk. Nothing fancy. Just walk around your neighborhood parks. Don’t worry if you get winded. Simply, slow down the pace of your walking. For about a half hour each day, do this and before you know it, you will have built up your stamina and leg strength.

When your reach this point in your exercise schedule, you can begin to add more difficult exercises to your routine. One perfect choice of exercises is cycling which has a number of advantages. Cycling will help you to build and strengthen the muscles in your legs. In addition, cycling can give you a great cardiovascular workout. As you get into the more strenuous exercises, you can start to cut back on the number of days that you are training from 7 or 6, to 4 or 5 times a week, preferably on alternate days. This gives your muscles a chance to rest and become renewed.

If you want to be serious and prepare yourself for skiing the right way, in addition, you have to focus on getting your abs and lower back muscles into shape. There are a number of popular portable fitness machines on the market that can help you to work out these muscles properly.

However, not having a fitness machine is no excuse for not exercising. If you don’t have a portable fitness machine, you can still get your abdominal and back muscles into good shape by doing sit ups, leg raises, body twists, and the like. In addition, there are a number of isometric tension exercises that can help strengthen these muscle groups.

If you are willing to start slow and gradually build up your body to an appropriate fitness state, you can look forward to starting the ski season in shape with much less fear of harm.

Cutting Costs While Getting In Shape

Many Americans will make the dual pledge this year to lose weight fast and cut expenses. New research shows that cutting the expensive gym membership and joining the local low cost YMCA, or an outdoor fitness group may be the best way to do both. Many gyms can cost several hundred to well over $ 1,000 per month for a family of four. The hi-tech equipment, while nice to look at, has not shown to improve overall results in any research study to date over low cost alternatives such as walking, or simple dumbbell exercises. According to Christine Alba, researcher, what does matter is having fun and if possible in a group. While local exercise classes at community centers can cost hundreds less per month, the results can actually be better for those looking to lose weight fast, because, according to Dr. Alba, you work harder when in a group than when alone.

While Dr. Alba’s work has shown this increased work ethic in humans the research started in rats. When a rat was allowed to exercise at will, or in a group, the rat would run longer and also have large amounts of specific brain hormones called brain derived neurotropic factor or BDNF, released. When the rats were forced to run the researchers found that there was no BDNF spike, and the rats would eat more food compensating for the increases in their metabolism from exercise. Dr. Alba’s work also shows that those that use the low cost, no frills, exercise option tend to be happier overall. Mostly, she says, because you run into your neighbors, and other active community people that lead to more community involvement. For people that do not have local community health centers, Dr. Alba recalls a research study in rural America where some local women started their own exercise classes, each women was in charge of a day out of the week and through self directed yoga, 8-minute abs, and climbing the local high school football field stairs, the women were able to lose weight and raise money for the local high school football team.
