Getting in shape while vacationing in Gulf Shores’ hotels can turn the trip into a do-it-yourself spa week. Bringing along your girlfriends or boyfriends who are into fitness will make it even more successful as well as fun. When a person is working at the job back home, he or she might be too busy to stop at the gym. He or she might also fall into the trap of purchasing chocolate candy rewards for himself or herself from the office vending machine, simply for showing up to work. Going out of town to a beach location is the perfect time to begin a new chapter of getting into shape. Viewing all those tones bodies on the beach and looking at your own flabby physique in the hotel mirror will be sure to make you want to step out into fitness. Here are some ways to enjoy a DIY spa-week in Gulf Shores’ hotels:

– Stock the mini-fridge with low cal snacks: A fridge full of carrots, seasonal fruits, V8 juice and diet sodas will be a way of providing easy access to healthy snack fare. Instead of cookies, candies and high fat treats, munching on these low calorie snacks will allow the pounds to start melting away. They taste good, too, and have been known to become habit forming.

– Stairway workout: Does the hotel have a staircase? If so, you now have found one of your easy workouts. Grab your running shoes and friends and hit the stairways. Set the timer on your cell phone and trek up and down till the buzzer goes off. Twenty minutes is ideal but less or more will work. You don’t have to run, just go up and down till the timer alerts you that workout time is over. For a person who weighs 120 pounds, this workout will burn 150 calories.

– Swimming in the hotel pools: You don’t have to be an Olympic trained athlete to melt pounds off in the swimming pool. Just splashing around, doing the dog paddle and moving your body will burn off 110 calories in twenty minutes.

– Rent bicycles: Many of the condos and hotels in the region have bikes for rent. Not only is this great exercise, it’s fun and a way to tour the area. Touring around the trails with your buds for an hour will shave 240 calories from your day.

– Golfing: Even with a golf cart, one hour of golfing burns off 185 calories. That sure was an easy way to work off breakfast, wasn’t it?

– Hiking: Whether you’re hiking the rugged terrain of the areas trails, trudging through sand barefoot, or simply tromping through the shops at the Wharf, you are going to burn off 150 calories every half hour. If you’re carrying backpacks or shopping bags full of souvenirs, it’s going to burn even more.

Going on a trip to Gulf Shores hotels can be good for your mental outlook and get your body on the right track to fitness. With a jumpstart like this, a person will likely feel so spectacular that he or she will stay at it back at home.
