Strength training for weight loss is not a tricky issue. Sure, it’s taken us women a few more years to wander over to the free weight section, but that’s because we tend to associate strength training with weight gain.
Yikes! Muscle bound men lifting extremely heavy weights and grunting. Not very inviting when you are looking to lose fat, drop weight and tone up.
So is it possible for us to strength train, gain muscle, and lose weight? It sure is. And here’s a tip…if you can count to 12, you can do it!
This article focuses on strength training for weight loss. It is designed to give you guidance so that you can develop your own strength training for weight loss routine.
Getting back to our strength training for weight loss article… you’re here because you are tired of all the mis-information being spouted by Joe Schmo and Suzie Smack. I’m glad you’ve found me and I’ll tell you why- strength training is the best way to lose weight and keep it off!
Let’s take a look at how the strength training for weight loss process works over and over again in thousands of women like us.
I started training with a client named Joan. She was your average, typical American woman. She worked full-time and had two kids in grade school. Joan’s schedule was packed with baseball practice and dance classes…for her kids…not her.
She rarely had time to work out, and honestly if she had some free time she certainly didn’t want to spend it sweating and losing her breath.
Over the years Joan gained 45 pounds. She used to workout at home a few years ago and even bought a treadmill with every intention of using it. And she did, once or twice. Now it takes up space and gathers dust.
I asked Joan if she would be willing to do the following:
– a strength training for weight loss program
– set realistic and tangible goals
– and count to 12 a few times a week.
She looked at me with an arched brow and said, “Sure.” So begins a strength training for weight loss success story. Strength training for weight loss is simple and effective.
We began by measuring her fitness levels.
It was essential for us to see exactly where Joan was starting from because in a few short weeks, she was going to notice big time changes.
I wanted her to see first hand how successful she was about to become by strength training for weight loss.
Armed with her fitness levels, Joan set her realistic and tangible goal to lose 10-15 pounds by summer. That meant we had two months to drop 10-15 pounds in a safe way.
No problem. We developed the correct strength training routine for her, and she was off!
–Joan’s Strength Training For Weight Loss Plan–
Joan worked with weights 2 days a week and cardio 3-4 days a week. She was instructed to keep a log of her workouts and to check-in.
Joan worked her muscles the proper way for weight loss. She worked her entire body for the next two months.
Each set was 12 repetitions long. Her total workout time was less than 60 minutes 4-5 times a week. Her cardio was a mix of interval training and incline walking on her existing treadmill.
In addition to her treadmill, Joan worked out using only free weights and a stability ball. She did some running outside too. All in all, Joan spent less than $ 200 to get her new body and new outlook on life.
She reached her goals by summer. Simple. And you can do a strength training for weight lost routine too!

Strength training for weight loss adds a nice layer of pure muscle. Lean, toned muscle. This lean muscle devours calories. Even at rest!
The more muscle we have, the more calories our body uses. The more calories our body uses, the more weight we lose. Easy!
Remember-
+ Measure Your Fitness Levels
+ Work each muscle group several times/week
+ Do sets of 12 repetitions or pick another method that suits you better.
+ Set realistic, tangible goals
+ Log Every Workout!
+ Stick with it, even when you don’t want to. Make a promise to yourself that you will begin to workout. If after 5 minutes of working out you still want to quit, then by all means take a rest. I can almost guarantee you that you will continue on!

Courses In Marine Engineering Possible Through Marine Engineering And M Tech Colleges In India

Higher studies in a particular stream, is many a times, chosen by people, after they have finished their graduation degrees. Selecting a subject in these higher education colleges is important as it is very much instrumental in deciding about the streams in which one is going to make a career. Rightly done, the selection of subjects can give placements in very lucrative places.
Nowadays, students are picking up such subject quite smartly, allowing themselves to secure jobs in very good places. Of the many subjects, one that has opened up avenues for the aspiring students is that of marine engineering. This is a subject which is not seen or found in any B Tech engineering colleges. As a course, marine engineering deals with the various aspects of aquatic life and use of technology in studying and researching life in the waters.
Opening up of such courses in the engineering colleges in the M Tech stream is something that is being recently seen.
This particular subject has been in the curriculum of a few colleges in the foreign countries. But in India, it is only recently that courses related to sea and marine life have been introduced in the master’s level. Merchant navy has been in vogue since a few decades.
Students were not much interested in such jobs in the earlier days. With lucrative deals and great career prospects, these subjects have come into the limelight in recent years. Not only the pay packet is good, but the people in different jobs in the course are able to move to various locations and are involved in activities that can be rightly called as adventurous. Adding to the enthusiasm of the students is the fact that a number of technology institutes are starting the courses in marine engineering and related M Tech courses.
For general subjects such as mechanical, electrical, automobile engineering etc, there are many seats and many colleges are offering these courses. But few of the M tech colleges in India have started the courses related to marine science in recent years. Apart from the M Tech colleges in India which are offering these courses, there are exclusive marine engineering colleges, in which the induction of students has seen a significant rise in recent years.
Tolani Maritime Institute in Pune, Vel’s Academy of Maritime Education and Training in Chennai, Marine Engineering and Research Institute in Kolkata, Academy of Maritime Education and Training in Chennai, RL Institute of Nautical Science in Madurai, etc are some of the marine engineering colleges in India. Students are taking admission in these institutes in large numbers and having their aspirations in marine related jobs fulfilled.
These institutes which have marine engineering courses are also offering the merchant navy courses as well as there are exclusive merchant navy institutes in India for students who are interested in getting jobs in the merchant navy. Students’ enthusiasm and the facilities by these institutes have increased the number of students getting admissions as well as, have raised the number of seats in these colleges.

If you ask any fellow lifter or bodybuilder about their routine, chances are they can’t give you a very good answer. Most people use routines that are ineffective and just plain lazy.
This article will explain the best workout to gain muscle. At the end of the article, discover the best, most proven system for building muscle fast, and learn how you can gain up to 40 pounds of muscle in just 6 months.
Focus On Compound Movements
The most important thing to do when you work out to gain muscle is to focus on compound, multi joint exercises such as squats, deadlifts, presses, and pulls. These exercises allow you to use the most weight possible, and thus allow for the largest strength gains.
Train To Failure
After you complete your warm up sets, you should take your heavy sets to absolute failure, the point at which you cannot complete another rep.
Some gurus and “experts” may say otherwise, and that doing it this way will “surely” lead to over-training, but those are the same people that tend to be small and weak.
The Program
This is a rough outline of the program. If you’re going to truly learn how to train, you need to be able to add in your own extra movements and variations as you see fit for you own body.
Day 1: Squat
Do squats as your main movement on this day, and work up to a top set of 4-6 reps. After this, do a down set of 8-10 reps at a lighter weight, and then move on to other movements for legs, calves, and abs.
Day 2: Bench Press
Do bench press with the same protocol as you did the squat, and then move on to movements for the chest, shoulders, triceps, upper back and biceps.
Day 3: Deadlift
Again use the same protocol as on squats and bench press, and follow the deadlifts up with exercises for the legs, calves, and abs.
Day 4: Military Press
You guessed it, again work up to a top set of 4-6 and follow it with a down set of 8-10 reps. Work the same muscles with your extra exercises as on the bench press day.
